We Need Your Help - Letter Writing

Our New York State elected officials -
We hired them. They work for us, right?  They don't work for out-of-state energy developers, energy industry associations or lobbyists -- They work for US.
Time to tell them that they can do BETTER in our backyard!!!
To our steadfast supporters –

We continue to keep track of many issues and developments in New York State pertaining to renewable energy development.

As stated in our recent newsletter, we were very disappointed that the lawsuit filed by Copake (and other plaintiffs) was dismissed, but we’re happy to report that all plaintiffs are united, and will be filing an appeal.  We view this lawsuit as a way to keep these critical issues alive - namely, the importance of community input and local law when making siting decisions, the need to protect wildlife habitats and wetlands, preserve farmland, and maintain the rural character of any small town unlucky enough to be targeted by renewable energy developers for their wind or solar projects.

We anticipate that Hecate Energy will be filing their permit application for the proposed 245 acre utility scale solar installation in Copake, NY in January, so now is the time to let our elected officials and Hecate Energy CEO know how we feel about “Shepherd’s Run” and how industrial projects like these are considered for our rural New York communities.

Below you will find links to a letter for our elected officials and one for the Hecate Energy CEO for you to download or copy and paste.  Feel free to add your own feelings and of course your contact information. You can also draft your own letter in your own words if you wish.  It doesn’t have to be long, but be sincere and share your outrage!

Email or mail those letters to our local leaders - Governor Hochul, Assemblymember Didi Barrett and Senator Daphne Jordan and Hecate Energy CEO, Chris Bullinger.
